Bread Pudding




INGREDIENTS                                          PRINTABLE RECIPE 
·      12 pieces of stale bread (roti)
·      1 can of condensed milk (susu cair)
·      5 large eggs (telur)
·      3 tbsp sugar (gula pasir)
·      3 tbsp melted butter (mentega cair)
·      1/2 tbsp vanilla essence (esen vanila)
·      Few drops banana essence (esen pisang)
·      1/4 tsp salt (garam)
·      Cinnamon powder (serbuk kulit kayu manis)
·      Almond slivers (kepingan badam) Raisins (kismis)
·      3-4 pcs Banana (pisang)
·      3-4 pcs Dates (kurma)
·      Maple syrup

METHOD
Buttered 10 x 10" baking dish
Toast the bread slightly & spread butter all over. 
Cut the bread into cubes @ whatever shapes that you desire. 
Layer half portion of the bread into the baking dish followed by cut bananas, raisins & dates. 
Repeat the steps for the rest of the ingredients. 
In a big bowl combined condensed milk, eggs, sugar, melted butter, banana essence, vanilla essence & salt.
Beat the mixture slightly & pour it onto the bread. 
Sprinkle sugar & cinnamon powder. 
Lastly spread some raisins & almond slivers over the top. Drizzled some maple syrup.  
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil & let it sit on the counter for 10 mins.
Bake in a preheated oven for 30 mins @ 230°C. Unwrapped & bake for another 10mins @ until the top part turned slightly browned. 
Let it cool on the counter. Refrigerate first before serving. Leave it overnight in the refrigerator for a better taste. 
Best served with custard sauce

CARA – CARANYA
Siapkan loyang 10x10" yg digris dgn mentega secukupnya.
Bakar roti sehingga sedikit garing & kemudian sapukan mentega.
Potong roti dalam betuk kiub @ apa2 bentuk yg anda suka.
Susun sebahagian keping roti di dalam loyang.
Kemudian susun pula pisang yang telah dipotong kecil, taburkan sedikit kismis & kurma.
Ulang langkah tadi dengan bahan2  yg selebihnya.
Adunkan susu cair, telur,  mentega cair, gula, garam,  esen pisang & esen vanila di dalam satu bekas hingga sebati.
Tuangkan ke atas lapisan roti  tadi. 
Akhir sekali taburkan serbuk kayu manis, gula, kismis & kepingan badam di atas roti tadi.  Renjis sedikit sirap maple ke atasnya. 
Perap roti dalam 10 minit.
Balut loyang dengan kertas aluminum. 
Panas kan oven terlebih dahulu.
Bakar selama 30min @ 230°C. 
Kemudian buka balutan aluminum & bakar selama 10min lagi hingga bahagian atas kelihatan sedikit garing.  
Sejukkan terlebih dahulu di dalam peti ais sebelum dihidangkan.  Seeloknya dibiarkan semalaman.
Lagi enak jika dihidangkan bersama sos kastad.

SAUCE – Vanilla Custard
(SOS - Kastad Vanilla)

INGREDIENTS
·      1 canned condensed milk (susu cair)
·      1.5 can water (air)
·      2-3 tbsp sugar (gula pasir)
·      3 tbsp custard powder (tepung kastad)
·      Pinch of salt (garam)
·      1 tsp vanilla essence (esen vanila)

METHOD
Mix all the ingredients except vanilla essence in a saucepan under slow fire. Stir occasionally until the sauce becomes a bit thicker. Switch off the fire & add in vanilla essence. Mix well. Strained the sauce into a container & let it chill in the fridge before serving.

CARA – CARANYA
Masukkan semua sekali ke dalam periuk kecuali esen vanila & masak di atas api sederhana panas sehingga sos menjadi pekat.  Kacau sentiasa.  Tutup api & masukkan esen vanila. Kacau sehingga sebati. Tapis sos & masukkan ke dalam bekas.  Sejukkan di dalam peti sejuk sebelum dihidangkan.
